Gotta love Cafe Rio. This location is often packed at lunch, but you still get through the line ok. I often get the sweet pork quesadillas with their house tomatillo cilantro lime dressing on the side...sweet heaven. I also recommend the pork burrito, or getting the quesadilla with fire grilled chicken or steak.

We were passing through on a road trip and were excited to come upon a cafe rio. We were very disappointed by how extremely dirty the entire place was. Trashes overflowing, filthy bathroom and trash all over the floor in the dining room. Also several of the fountain drinks were not working and the hot sauces were almost all empty. I cant imagine how they are still in business!

Ate here Friday night. The line was at the door. So we waited in line for about 20 minutes. I can't complain, they were really hustling. While I waited I noticed every empty table was dirty. There was food on the floor under the tables. It was quite the mess. One of our party sat at a dirty table to reserve it for us. I went to the "take out" desk and ask the employee for a rag so I could clean the table myself. That never happened. Our table never got cleaned. We had to wipe it down with napkins. I had the pulled chicken salad and it was fabulous. I always enjoy the food here. But, the dining room is usually a disaster. The tables and chairs are usually "sticky". They need dedicated dining room employee, especially on the nights when they know their gonna get slammed. I blame this problem on management. Get it together!

I absolutely love Cafe Rio, but this branch of the franchise was ridiculously slow. I've stood in Disneyland ride lines that moved faster than this! And then not only that, the assembly line was sloppy and the workers didn't listen to my mother nor I when we said "no cheese." I understand that Payson is overrun with visitors at this time, but even if the staff had shown some positive attitudes to compensate for the poor service, I would understand. Blank stares. Come on, guys!

This was my first and last visit to Cafe Rio. We asked for a taco salad in a bowl and one taco. It was like pulling teeth. None of the people behind the counter seemed to know what was in anything. The mint lemonade was tasty, but they left the stems in there. So you would be drinking then a chunk of stem would shoot up the straw. It was tasty, when we finally got our food. But the effort was not worth it. I'll go to Baja Fresh or Chipotle next time.

I've said this about other locations. They never get my order right the first time because they add more expensive stuff without asking. Ex. I ask for shredded chicken, and the guy put grilled before I could say anything. I don't like enchilada style, but the guy dumps sauce on and cheese on the top as I'm saying "no enchil..." And then tries to charge me for the "upgrades". I'm not payin an extra $2.50 for your mistakes!

Pretty low standards of sanitation. Employee put ice in machine and placed the bucket on the floor. When he picked up the bucket he put his hand on the bottom of the bucket then spread the ice around with the same hand!

Typical Cafe Rio... Always busy, service goes through pretty quick usually, but the food is awesome as you'd expect.

I love cafe rio, but I just had the most awful experience at this location. I went to bathroom which was atrocious. While we were standing in line my husband heard one of the workers say, "I know this is TMI, but I just started my period." Not even a whisper. Clearly loud enough for multiple people to hear. The whole restaurant was so dirty, while 3 workers were having we're having social hour in the corner. The food was definitely not up to par with other car rio locations I've been too. My mom went to go use the restroom at the end of our visit, and there was blood is the toiled. Hmm. Wonder who must have left that. Needless to say, we will never be returning to this location

It was clean and what you would expect from Cafe Rio. However, the service was only so-so. Overall it was a lukewarm experience.

I usually love cafe rio.. As in it's my favorite restaurant.. But this location is the worst! They don't put cheese on your tortilla for salads, their overall quality of their food felt like it was leftovers from yesterday.. Their customer service was mediocre, the cashier was pretty rude. The only positive thing I have to say is their horchata was good. I won't be going back to this location.

Food is very good. Love the fire grilled steak! My wife loves the salad with pork barbacoa. It is pretty sweet. Bad and I mean real bad side is the service. Friendly and clean but super super super slow. Mega slow. Unbelievably slow. Not good for lunch unless your unemployed and have 20 minutes to wait for your food. Very tasty food though! Call ahead for take out is what I recommend.

I've been here three times and every time they do just fine. This location has a ton of negative reviews but I can't say I have had much of an issue. It seemed on par with other locations I've been to. Love cafe rio - it always sounds good

Worst cafe rio I've been to. Dirty, sloppy, and terrible service. I had a salad and the tortilla was cold and stale, the meat had way too much sauce, the salad was mostly hard stems and was dripping wet, and made the stale tortilla into mush, the line cook forgot my dressing and the cashier tried to give my salad to the person in front of me. Never going to this location again.

The food is fresh, and all tastes good. I usually get a smothered burrito or the nachos. My girlfriend gets the salads and everything is good. Nothing special, and a little pricy. The wort thing is that our orders get mixed up or lost because it's like Zupa's - you have to repeat your order to 4 different people just to get through the line.

Went in to pick up my online order and was told they were out of steak. That was fine and I said to just do chicken instead. Got home and they had forgotten all of the condiments for my Quesadilla. No Guac, no Sour Cream, etc. I called to complain and all I got was "well you can come back in or I guess we could give you a free meal, otherwise I don't know how we can help you". No apology. They wrote my name down on a piece of paper. We'll see if they still have it tomorrow. Very disappointed.

If I could give less than a star I would. I have had enough with this location. Cafe rio usually has good food but this location obviously doesn't care. I am always disappointed with the way my order is always wrong, the rice which I love has too big of cilantro pieces like they don't cut it up enough. They don't let the beans drain in the spoon before they put it over a crusty tortilla that has likely been sitting there almost the whole day. So the salads tortilla on the sides is harder than a rock and the bottom is soggy and not good eats. The kids that work there don't want to be there, they are always standing around being anything but helpful. I have really been wanting this cafe rio to do good and they do because there isn't much else in spanish fork, but they won't have my business anymore. The owner of that one isn't helpful either doesn't do anything about the reoccurring problems me and my whole family experience. Drive to Provo cafe rio or costa vida down the road.

Food taste good but horrible customer service. I called to order out and the guy who took my order kept cutting me off and acted like he was in a big hurry. I knew he was going to mess up my order. Sure enough they did. They over charged us for an extra salad that they never gave us.

In the thousand years since the war of the unicorns I have not seen a place with sweet barbecue pork in a burrito. It took me all of the will power I could muster to not eat the mass produced meat filler loaded burgers from across the street to eat here. Though I find it odd that with nearly 27 people in here being a 300 pound tattooed ape, would all stare at me so discreetly and politely. They seem like some cool cats too.

I love the food. But the service at this location is terrible. My last three call ins have been trouble. I called in 40 minutes ago for two salads and I still haven't received my order. There are only five customers in the place, so it is not like they are busy. The last time I called, they didn't get the order right. Ugh.

I endured the worst customer service experience at this location. This place has really let their standards go and I'm taking my business to Costa Vida from now on. When I first got there one of the teenage employees rudely cut us off while we were looking at the menu, while I was ordering with a friend the people that were making my order started arguing in front of the customers about who was going to close. It went on for a long time while me and my friend had to wait for them to finish to give us our orders. Because they argued for so long they messed up both of our orders because they weren't paying attention. I've never seen such a lack of concern for a customer. The staff is extremely immature and there doesn't seem to be direction and no one cares about you. When we got our food it was cold and the tortillas were hard and tasteless. That was the last straw I had problems throughout my whole visit. This isn't the first time I go through this at this location and definitely won't be coming back. I seriously doubt the owner or store manger even cares about what's going on based on all the bad reviews. At least at other places around Spanish Fork they actually care and serve warm food.

Food was good as usual but service was bad. When glass broke and I told one of the workers all she could do was stare at me and say oh ok. No one came to clean it up. I ended getting a broom and cleaning it as at least 5 employees stood watch. I let them know I cleaned it up but there might still be some I missed. Just got stares. Maybe they need better training!

Service is inefficient and slow. Out of 4 meals there was something wrong will all 4. Staff had bad attitudes and their prep area is disorganized & dirty (sour cream mixed with quac, black & pinto beans mixed, etc).

I can say that I have never taken the time to write a review on anything but tonight pushed me to do so. Our family loves to eat at Cafe Rio. We eat there about once a week near our home in Salt Lake City. We decided to hit this cafe rio from our drive home from Moab. We saw a line but thought no biggie. The line moves fast at Cafe Rio. Oh no! We stood in line more than 40 minutes. Got to the front of the line to see day old brown lettuce and brown guacamole. Tortillas limp sitting warm in a bag and rice that looked like it was crunchy. We ordered. Asked for different lettuce and the employee rolled her eyes and went to the back for the shredded lettuce. None of the specialty drink spouts worked. No toilet paper in the bathroom. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. The pork tasted dirty. Nothing was good. Period.

Cafe rio has been our family's & extended family's favorite restaurant for years. I've lived in Texas...chipotle just not as good, California...costa vida...no way & Hawaii where we decided to just try to create our own versions of the food we love here at cafe rio. Everyone has their fav...most people love the shredded sweet pork, but my husband and I don't like sweet meat...so he always gets the grilled steak burrito & I love the shredded chicken salad with the creamy cilantro dressing. They have free kid quesadillas for kids under 6. I can't believe costa vida has more stars on here- not even close in my opinion. All I can figure is that cafe rio has gotten so much hype for a long time that the few who don't love it feel like they have to write a negative review.

I have been coming here since they opened. Something has changed because the quality has decreased drastically. The rice is typically not cooked and the meat is over cooked. Not a place I will be spending my money anymore and I recommend find an alternative. My husband and I have gotten ill the last two times we have eaten there.

Food is really good which you can get at any cafe rio. The service at this one is just horrible. Not nice, just in a rush to get you in and out and half the time they mess up your order. When you call in your order expect it to be 3X longer then standing in line. They are horrible with the call in service. They need to discontinue it or improve it. Like I said food is great but service is horrible. Enjoy.

I like Cafe Rio, but this is by far the worst one i have been to. There customer service is terrible. They always seem to have 5 people just standing around when there is a huge line. Overall I would go out of my way to go to a different Cafe Rio.

Like a couple of people said. The food is good - like any other Cafe Rio, but the service is SLLLLLOOOOOWWWW! Like Super painfully slow! No matter what time of day/night week night/weekend. Not only are they slow, but the line seem especially hard to endure because it is like all joy has been sucked out of the joint. The employees are moving super slow and they look like they have just been told Christmas is cancelled or that their puppy just died. They do not do any of the traditional "Nacho, Nacho Man or EXXXXTTRA Meat or FREEEE MEAL!" like the other Cafe Rio locations do. They very visibly seem like they are just hating every second they are there and it is noticable to their customers and rubs off on everyone standing in line. Even if you were not irritble going in, you are by the time you get your food. I am looking forward to the new Costa Vida being built in the same area. Cafe Rio better be careful....competition is coming to Spanish Fork.

Their service is SO slow!! I really dislike that. They really need to hire more people to help make the orders. I'd suggest calling the order in for take out to avoid waiting in line. The food is yummy & I love the chips & guacamole. ---- Four years later, same complaints! Still SO slow when there aren't even many people waiting. I wanted the steak and they said, "that'll be a 25 minute wait!" Uhh, seriously??! If you go, and you want streak or grilled chicken, don't be surprised if they're out or there is a "25 minute wait". We ordered a tostada that comes with a dressing, which they failed to give us. Also, the guy cutting up the the chicken decided to pop a piece into his mouth - eww. Another thing that was gross is that the worker dropped some salmon on the side of the bin and just pushed it back into the container. I don't know about you, but I find that slightly unsanitary. If you like cafe Rio and can stand this terrible service, enjoy!!

Let me start by saying that for some reason I am a sucker for their Pork Salad. That being said I was appalled by the service at this location. I know that this is not a fancy five star sit down restaurant with waiter service: This is a Cafe Rio, you expect to ask multiple times for them to repeat the question of black or pinto beans. I walked in 20 minutes before they close and had to re-check the hours on the door because everyone was standing around like they had just gotten off work. I waited a good two minutes as the only person in line while the man who should have been helping me talked to and flirted with what I can only assume was his girlfriend based on his level of public affection. I was asked which dressing I would like I told them that I would like two of the House dressing and was told that they had a limit of one per person. I looked confused but proceeded to explain I didn't have a problem paying for two and was again told that they had a limit of one per person. I again acted politely confused, then, and only then, did the kid tell me and I quote "Nah I'm just fooling with you BRO" Bro?!! I don't know where you got that idea from but I am not your 'bro'!!!! I then had to wait while the cashier and her friend looked at pictures on her phone. If I had been the owner or manager of this location at-least four people would have been out of a job when I had left. All-in-all I was horrified by the service and how dirty both the kitchen and the dining room was. I will not be eating at this location again if they keep this level of service. If I did not like the food I would have given this one star without hesitation.

So good! No better fresh mex restaurant can compete! Maybe chipotle... Maybe... I can eat cafe rio everyday and not get sick of it. I had the pork tostada and it was heaven. BTW cafe rio will be served in heaven.

Let me start out by saying, I know how Cafe Rio is. I understand there's always a wait, it always takes time, and it's always busy. However, this Cafe Rio, compared to others in the area, is complete crap. I usually go between 8:30 and 9:30 PM, and it's usually still a little busy. The problem is that they don't really seem to know how to handle that many customers at once. There was one person taking all of the orders, one person at the check stand, and the rest were standing around in the back looking like idiots. There were around 10 people in front of me when I got there. It took over 45 minutes to get to a place I could semi see what was going on. They were out of tortillas and rice. And of course, as I said before, there was ONE person helping customers. That means ONE PERSON doing tortillas, getting rice, and preparing orders. It was RIDICULOUS. Finally when the guy took my order another person walked up, but only stood there. Mind you, the two people in front of me had ordered a salad and a quesadilla. I've never seen it take over 3 minutes to prepare a Cafe Rio salad to the point where the customer customizes it. But apparently it takes about 10 minutes. Don't even get me started on the quesadilla the next person ordered. I completely understand being understaffed. I understand having problems and things going slow. Especially at such a popular restaurant. But really? Employees standing around? When you have a line almost to the door? Come on.

Good food. Friendly setting for families with kids. More like an upscale fast food joint. Nothing fancy but they get the basics right. Would try it out again if in the area next time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
